Linear Accelerator/Simulator

Project Description
The Seton Medical Center is located on a hillside overlooking Daly City.  This presented a challenge as the new linear accelerator vault, which is a composite structure of concrete, steel, and radiation shielding (lead and borated polyethylene) is extremely heavy.  An innovative pile construction system was utilized to drill and place piles as deep as 39 feet, however, the vault itself was designed to sit on a 3’ thick concrete mat. In addition to the new linear accelerator and CT simulator, the entire radiation oncology department was remodeled to address accessibility, convenience and patient comfort.
